Paula Byrne, APRN, FNP-C

Paula Byrne, APRN, FNP-C, has built a healthcare career spanning hospital, outpatient, hospice, dialysis, and advanced practice settings. Her years at the bedside provided a broad clinical foundation before she continued her education to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Early in her career, Paula worked with patients receiving dialysis treatment before moving into medical-surgical and intensive care nursing. She later cared for patients on telemetry units at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and spent time as an on-call hospice nurse, helping families understand how to care for loved ones at home.

Her nursing background eventually led to advanced practice in hospital medicine. As a Family Nurse Practitioner and nocturnist at Grand Strand Medical Center, Paula’s responsibilities have included admitting patients from the emergency department, caring for hospitalized patients, and responding to urgent medical situations. Her experience across different levels of care has given her a broad understanding of patients with both routine and more complex health needs.

Education has also played an important role in her career. Paula served as adjunct nursing faculty at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where she taught and advised nursing students and supervised their clinical experiences in the hospital setting.

Paula completed her Family Nurse Practitioner master’s degree at South University and is certified as an FNP-C. She also earned a master’s degree in Nursing Science and Education from the University of Phoenix, a nursing degree from Montgomery County Community College, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology from Temple University.

From educating future nurses to supporting patients and families through different stages of care, Paula’s career reflects a wide range of healthcare experience and a strong foundation in both clinical care and education.
