Insights from The Beryl Institute Elevate Conference
Our Vice President of Organizational Experience, Rebecca Dillard, recently attended The Beryl Institute Elevate Conference, where healthcare leaders from across the country gathered to share ideas and strategies for improving the patient experience. The conference focused on creating more meaningful, compassionate, and connected care journeys for patients and their families.
One of the most impactful themes Rebecca brought back from the event was the value of unhurried conversations in healthcare. Sessions highlighted that patients are often interrupted within seconds of beginning to speak, which can limit opportunities to fully understand their concerns. Taking time to ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, and reflect back what patients share can create stronger connections and lead to better outcomes.
“I’m reflecting on intentional experience design—how we can move to journey-based listening to better anticipate and shape the full patient experience, much like the thoughtful, personal touches seen in hospitality. Paired with Jason Wolf’s call to be champions of choice, stewards of storytelling and catalysts of care, it’s a reminder that truly meaningful healthcare experiences are intentionally designed, not incidental.”
Another important takeaway was that quality interactions are not always about adding more time to appointments, but about making each moment more intentional. Meaningful dialogue helps providers better understand what matters most to the patient, allowing care to be more personalized and effective.
We are proud to bring these insights back to our organization as we continue strengthening the patient experience through empathy, communication, and patient-centered care. Opportunities like Elevate show our commitment to making every interaction feel heard, valued, and supported.
