Johnnie Colter spent over 20 years as a hairstylist before ever setting foot into the healthcare industry and joining Your Health as a Community Health Worker. Johnnie's experience at Your Health completely reshaped his idea of what the field even looks like. He assumed healthcare meant mainly doctors and nurses, until he got inside the industry and realized how much more there was to it.  

What stands out most to him is collaboration. Nurses, doctors, and community health workers all have to talk to each other, and to the patient, for real care and comfort to happen. Without that coordination, he says, "patients simply wouldn't get what they need." Johnnie may never meet most of the patients his work touches, but that doesn't diminish the impact for him. Knowing his role matters is enough to keep him inspired and believing in the work he does every day. His story is a reminder that healthcare runs on more roles than the clinical ones people usually picture.
