Portable Retinal Camera to Bring Screening to In-Home Diabetic Patients
Your Health’s diabetic specialty group has a powerful new tool in the fight against diabetic retinopathy—a portable retina screening camera that enables early detection and intervention for patients living with diabetes.
Diabetic retinopathy is a complication caused by damage to the blood vessels in the retina and is linked to poorly controlled blood sugar levels. While the condition has no cure, early screening and treatment can significantly slow its progression and help preserve vision.
The new screening device will first be implemented at Your Health’s Main Street Physician clinics in the Grand Strand. Following training and evaluation, it will become available to frontline nurse practitioners to use during in-home visits, expanding access to this critical screening service for home-based patients.
“Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in South Carolina. This technology adds another layer to our proactive approach—bringing essential screening directly to patients in their homes.”
Your Health continues to build on its commitment to value-based care through its in-house diabetic specialty team, which includes nurse practitioners, dietitians, registered nurses, and pharmacists. Working in coordination with insurers and hospitals, this team delivers patient-centered care that focuses on outcomes rather than volume.
With over 1,600 professionals, 14 brick-and-mortar practices across South Carolina, and partnerships with 278 assisted and independent living communities, Your Health serves more than 54,000 patients across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida—helping to bring quality care closer to home.
