Damon Woodley

Damon Woodley developed an interest in physical therapy while rehabilitating two knee injuries in high school. Although Damon initially thought he would be interested in sports rehab, what captivated him was observing the therapists work with patients recovering from fractures and strokes, leading him to decide that this was his calling in life.

Damon earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from East Carolina University and later, in 2004, received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina as part of the first graduating class of that program.

A few years later, Damon returned to the University of South Carolina to instruct a class in Acute Care Physical Therapy that he developed for the program. He taught that class for nine years.

Throughout his career, Damon has treated patients in acute care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and outpatient settings. His treatment focuses on strengthening, balance, and fall prevention. He has received certification as a Fall Prevention Specialist and certification in LSVT BIG training for treating patients with Parkinson's disease.

Moreover, Damon is one of only 56 Geriatric Certified Clinical Specialists through the APTA in South Carolina. In 2020, Damon added a treatment partner to his therapy practice, a PAALS-certified facility dog named Bart, a Labrador Retriever who can help facilitate balance activities during therapy sessions.

Damon looks forward to focusing his treatments on maximizing physical functioning and quality of life in all his patients while decreasing the risk of falls and injury. Thus, his patients can enjoy every day to the fullest extent!
